Due to the prevailing situation with covid-19, the celebration the 6th of June is unfortunately canceled this year. We regret this but look forward to welcome you again in 2022 for the celebration of Swedens National Day.

The celebration of Sweden’s flag day on the 6th of June, now its National Day, has long been a much-loved tradition at Stora Sundby. Eskilstuna Gardet marching band assembles at the stables and heads a procession down to the castle, where guest speakers, choir, folk musicians and flag ceremony await.

The deer park is reached by going down on the left side of the castle (please see more information on the sign in the parking lot).

For a beautiful walk along Lake Hjälmaren, take the small wooden gate into the pasture and walk down to the water from the castle parking lot. Then follow the path along the edge of the lake. Take a rest on the wooden bench by the newly constructed wooden bridge and then continue further along the water. At the end of the road there is a memorial stone. During summer cows will  graze in the pasture at the beginning of the walk, so please be sure to close gates after you and to not scare the animals.

The estate’s game is available for sale on request – please contact our head gamekeeper Niels Einshöj, email: [email protected]
