We warmly welcome you to Stora Sundby Estate!

Castle Tours
Behind the castle walls lies a history that stretches back to the Middle Ages. The interior can only be experienced in the company of one of our knowledgeable guides, who will gently lead you through the castle's stories and rooms.
The tour takes around 50 minutes and takes you through the Knights' Hall, salons, chambers and beautiful rooms where centuries of life, tradition and heritage have left their mark.
Tickets can be booked via Tickster.

Welcome to Stora Sundby - a living castle with a long history.
Castle café
The café is located in the yellow wing along the avenue leading up to the castle, a beautiful building that once housed the estate's orangery. Here you are surrounded by flowers and lush greenery, with views over Hjälmaren and the castle.
We cook with heart, using locally sourced ingredients and meat directly from the farm. Our offerings include homemade pastries, open-faced sandwiches, and hot lunches. The food is served on our covered terrace, open to nature and the surroundings.
Everything we offer is prepared fresh each morning, which means that availability may be limited later in the day. Are you a larger group? Please get in touch in good time. [email protected] then we'll make sure there's plenty of food when you arrive.
Opening hours: During the summer, from June 15th, we are open daily from 11 am to 4 pm. However, we are closed on Midsummer's Eve and in connection with the CLSR festival on June 26th-27th.

Stora Sundby Farmers Shop
The farm shop is located directly at the entrance to the castle car park from road 56 and is open daily from 11 am to 4 pm during the summer.
The vision is to be a natural meeting point for food artisans so that we together can offer locally produced food. Here we offer game meat from the Estate and locally sourced ingredients from farms around Stora Sundby.
We also sell carefully selected sustainable products related to either the Castle or cooking. Right now we have game meat such as deer, wild boar, fallow deer, red deer, moose, mouflon sheep, pheasant and duck.

Castle grounds
In the park, you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Castle with its garden, the old castle ruins mentioned for the first time in the 14th century, a well-preserved runestone, and the scenic deer enclosure where there are plenty of fallow deer and mouflon sheep.
The park is open to the public every day of the year between 10-18.
The entrance fee of SEK 20 goes in full to the maintenance of the park.
Pets are welcome in the park but should be leashed and must not disturb other visitors or animals on the estate.
Please be considerate that the castle is a private residence and respect signs marked “private”.

Hiking
At the Castle parking lot, you will find an information sign with the walking trails that are available around the estate. Along each trail, there are benches where you can sit down for a rest and enjoy a packed snack.
Please remember to close gates behind you and keep your pets on a leash to avoid disturbing the estate animals.
picnic
Rent your picnic basket in the Castle Café and sit down in any place in the park, along the shore of Lake Hjälmaren or under the trees in the oak park. The basket does not need to be pre-booked but is rented on site in the Castle Café.
