The castle park is open every day, all year round, between 10.00-18.00. On this page you can see what we offer and what you can do when visiting us.
We warmly welcome you to Stora Sundby Estate!
Stora Sundby Farmers Shop
The vision is to be a natural meeting point for food artisans so that we together can offer locally produced food. Here we offer game meat from the Estate and locally sourced ingredients from farms around Stora Sundby.
We also sell carefully selected sustainable products related to either the Castle or cooking. Right now we have game meat such as deer, wild boar, fallow deer, red deer, moose, mouflon sheep, pheasant and duck.

Castle Café - Closed for the season
We would like to thank everyone who visited our Castle Café during 2023. We will reopen in spring/summer 2024.
The café is located in the yellow building in the alley leading up to the castle. This used to be the estate's orangery and is surrounded by flowers and lush greenery with a view of Lake Hjälmaren and the castle. We serve pastries, sandwiches, salads, cold and hot drinks on our terrace under a roof but without walls.
In our café, we make sandwiches and salads every morning, which may limit the selection towards the end of the day. Please inform us by email at [email protected] if you are a larger group planning a visit so we can prepare the supply.
The castle is a home for the Klingspor family and is therefore closed to visitors for a large part of the year but opens up on a few occasions.
The best way to get information about guided castle tours is through our Facebook and Instagram pages. When tickets are available for our events, you can find them on Tickster.
We have now opened the booking for group tours during spring/summer 2024. Please email [email protected] for available dates and prices.
Unfortunately, the castle is not disability-friendly.
In the park, you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Castle with its garden, the old castle ruins mentioned for the first time in the 14th century, a well-preserved runestone, and the scenic deer enclosure where there are plenty of fallow deer and mouflon sheep.
The grounds are open every day between 10am - 6pm. The 20 SEK entrance fee goes directly to the upkeeping of the park.
Pets are welcome in the park but should be leashed and must not disturb other visitors or animals on the estate.
Please be considerate that the castle is a private residence and respect signs marked “private”.
At the Castle parking lot, you will find an information sign with the walking trails that are available around the estate. Along each trail, there are benches where you can sit down for a rest and enjoy a packed snack.
Please remember to close gates behind you and keep your pets on a leash to avoid disturbing the estate animals.
Rent your picnic basket at the Castle Café and settle down in the Castle garden, along the shores of Lake Hjälmaren or under the trees in the oak park. You rent the basket in the Castle Café and fill it with goodies from the café's assortment.
Swedens National Day
We hope for celebration at the Castle grounds on June 6th, 2024.
More information will follow!
